Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Successfully Negotiates With NFL to Air Free Prime-Time Opener Cowboys vs Giants Exclusively in Dallas-Fort Worth Area — Fans Show Absolute Respect

Posted May 16, 2026

Dallas, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys have created a massive emotional reaction throughout the fanbase after owner Jerry Jones reportedly negotiated directly with the NFL to make the blockbuster Sunday Night Football opener between the Cowboys and New York Giants free exclusively for the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

According to multiple internal sources, the prime-time showdown will air free locally on Cowboys Sports Network 9 instead of being locked entirely behind premium streaming packages like it reportedly will be in most other markets.

The news immediately exploded across NFL social media because Cowboys vs Giants is already being viewed as one of the biggest opening night matchups of the entire 2026 season.

Many Cowboys fans quickly described the move as “a gift to America’s Team” from Jerry Jones following months of growing excitement surrounding Dallas football.

Meanwhile, most viewers outside the Dallas-Fort Worth area are reportedly expected to purchase the NFL PrimePass package priced at approximately $89.99 to fully watch the blockbuster season opener.

Some international markets are reportedly facing streaming bundle prices approaching nearly $120 for access to the complete opening week schedule.

According to several NFL insiders, league officials initially were not fully supportive of making such a high-value commercial matchup available for free.

However, Jerry Jones reportedly pushed aggressively during negotiations, arguing that Cowboys fans deserved direct access to one of the biggest moments of the new NFL season.

Internal sources claim Jones specifically wanted every family throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area to have the opportunity to watch the game together without worrying about expensive streaming costs.

Immediately after the announcement became public, thousands of Cowboys fans flooded social media with messages of appreciation and respect toward the Cowboys owner.

Some supporters described the decision as “one of the most respectful gestures ever made toward a local NFL community.”

“Football has always meant something deeply personal to this city and its families. We wanted every household in Dallas-Fort Worth to be able to experience opening night together without feeling pressured by another expensive subscription.”

The Cowboys vs Giants opener had already been heavily promoted by the NFL as one of the premier prime-time battles of the opening week.

Dallas enters the new season with high expectations and one of the league’s most storied franchises. Meanwhile, the Giants remain a fierce NFC East rival.

Many analysts now believe this Sunday Night Football showdown could realistically become a future NFC East playoff preview.

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer is reportedly extremely appreciative of Jerry Jones’ decision and believes it will create even more emotional energy throughout the organization.

Several Cowboys players reportedly even referred to the announcement as “Dallas’ first win before the season officially begins.”

As of Thursday night, the Cowboys community continued showing enormous respect toward Jerry Jones as many fans believe he may have created one of the rarest fan-first moments in modern professional sports history.

Just 1 Day After Being Released, Former Pro Bowl CB From the Indianapolis Colts Expressed Interest in Joining Dallas Even on a Short Term Cheap Deal — The Cowboys’ Official Decision on the Potential Move Left Fans Shocked
Dallas, Texas – Just one day after officially being released by the Indianapolis Colts, veteran cornerback Kenny Moore quickly became one of the NFL’s biggest offseason storylines. Multiple sources reported that Moore was especially interested in the possibility of joining the Dallas Cowboys even on a short term cheap contract this offseason. The former Pro Bowl cornerback is reportedly eager to play for a legitimate contender before entering the later stages of his NFL career completely. Following several major defensive changes in Dallas, many around the league believed the Cowboys could become a perfect landing spot for Moore immediately. Dallas is still viewed as needing additional cornerback depth because several young defensive players continue carrying significant health related concerns entering the upcoming season. Both DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel are expected to play important roles, but their physical condition remains something the Cowboys continue monitoring closely internally. Meanwhile, Kenny Moore is still viewed as an experienced defensive back capable of contributing meaningful snaps immediately for a contending NFL team right now. Although he is no longer playing at his 2021 Pro Bowl level, Moore still maintained respectable consistency throughout the previous NFL season defensively overall. Last season, he allowed a passer rating around 87.8 and remained among the more dependable veteran cornerbacks according to Pro Football Focus evaluations recently. That immediately led many NFL observers to believe Dallas could realistically sign Moore on an affordable deal to strengthen the secondary entering training camp. However, the Cowboys’ official response reportedly surprised many fans only hours after speculation regarding the potential signing began spreading rapidly online everywhere. According to longtime Cowboys insider Mike Fisher, one internal Dallas source responded with only a single word when asked about Moore: “No.” That answer instantly triggered debate among Cowboys fans who strongly believe Moore still possesses enough talent and experience to help the current defensive roster. Several people close to the organization reportedly remain concerned about Moore’s age and his apparent limitation primarily as a slot cornerback defensively nowadays. Dallas currently wants to provide more opportunities for younger players and recently acquired safeties within the team’s evolving defensive rotation structure moving forward. Caleb Downs and Jalen Thompson are viewed internally as players capable of handling meaningful slot responsibilities in multiple defensive packages during the upcoming season. The Cowboys also reportedly questioned why the Colts failed to find a trade partner before ultimately deciding to release Kenny Moore completely afterward. Indianapolis even agreed to absorb approximately $6 million in dead money rather than keeping Moore on the roster for another NFL season moving forward. Even so, many NFL analysts still believe Dallas has not entirely closed the door on revisiting this possibility if injuries emerge during training camp. Kenny Moore remains one of the most experienced veteran defensive backs still available on the NFL free agency market entering the summer months now. But at least for now, the Cowboys appear convinced their defensive future should primarily be built around youth rather than aging veteran additions moving forward.
