Green Bay Packers Have Terminated The Contract Of Rookie RB With Over 4.120 Career Yards and 33 TDs After Failing His Physical Exam - Who Frequently Used “Injuries” As An Excuse To Visit Downtown Green Bay Bars

Posted Jun 30, 2026

The Green Bay Packers made a shocking decision Tuesday night by officially terminating the contract of rookie running back Jaden Nixon.

The move came only days before the Packers begin a crucial OTA period while preparing for the pressure surrounding the upcoming 2026 NFL season.

According to multiple reports, team executives completely lost confidence after months of monitoring the young running back’s physical condition and off field behavior.

Jaden Nixon was once viewed as a high upside offensive talent because of his vision, burst, and ability to break through contact in tight spaces.

Throughout his football career, the rookie running back recorded more than 4,120 total yards and scored 33 touchdowns, building strong expectations for rapid development.

Many inside the organization believed Nixon still possessed enough upside to become a valuable contributor within Green Bay’s evolving offensive system.

However, concerns reportedly began growing after the rookie repeatedly appeared on injury reports throughout the past several months inside the Packers organization.

According to internal sources, Nixon frequently cited muscle soreness and lower body discomfort as reasons to avoid mandatory rehabilitation and conditioning sessions.

Shortly afterward, several individuals connected to the team reportedly spotted the rookie multiple times visiting bars throughout downtown Green Bay late at night.

Those reports quickly spread across the fanbase, creating frustration among supporters who place strong value on discipline and professionalism.

The Packers coaching staff reportedly held multiple private conversations in hopes of helping the young running back regain focus before the situation escalated internally.

“We gave him every opportunity to correct his approach and grow into the role we believed he could handle. We stayed patient and supportive. But eventually, accountability has to come from within the player himself.” — Matt LaFleur

Despite those efforts, the situation reportedly never improved as Nixon continued missing key conditioning evaluations during the offseason program.

The breaking point reportedly came earlier this week when the rookie failed the mandatory physical examination conducted by the team’s medical staff.

Team doctors concluded that he was not physically prepared to participate in the high intensity training program leading into the new season.

The decision to release him was finalized almost immediately following an internal meeting involving the coaching staff and football operations leadership.

Several veteran players inside the locker room were also becoming increasingly frustrated with what they viewed as unprofessional behavior.

The Packers organization has spent years rebuilding a disciplined culture centered on accountability, effort, and total team commitment.

Head coach Matt LaFleur reportedly wanted to send a clear message that no player, regardless of potential, stands above the team’s standards.

Even so, many fans remain disappointed, as Jaden Nixon was once seen as a developing talent who could have played a role in the team’s future plans.

Packers Sign Record Two-Year Deal With UFL Kicker After Impressive Playoff Performance — Despite Trey Smack’s Displeasure, per Adam Schefter
Green Bay, Wisconsin — The Green Bay Packers have quickly become the center of attention after making a surprising move just before training camp. This decision goes beyond football strategy and has already created strong reactions within the locker room. For weeks, the kicker position in Green Bay appeared stable and clearly defined. But everything changed following standout performances from an unexpected name. According to Adam Schefter, the Packers have reached an agreement with Tanner Brown after his outstanding playoff run in the UFL. The contract spans two years and is described as unusually valuable for a kicker coming from outside the NFL. Sources say the Packers were fully convinced by his consistency and ability to perform under pressure in elimination games. Throughout the playoffs, he maintained near perfect accuracy, especially in high pressure, game deciding kicks. That performance quickly drew attention from multiple NFL teams, but the Packers moved faster and more decisively than anyone else. However, this move has not been met with complete agreement inside the locker room. Trey Smack is reportedly not pleased with the decision to bring in direct competition at his position. Smack showed solid consistency last season and believed he had earned long term trust from the coaching staff. The arrival of Brown immediately creates serious competition heading into training camp. This places Smack in a position where he must prove his value again during every practice and opportunity. The Packers have never been afraid to create competition, even at positions that appear stable. This is viewed as a way to maintain high standards and ensure maximum performance across the roster. Still, offering a significant contract to a UFL kicker remains an unusual and potentially risky move. If successful, the Packers could uncover one of the most notable discoveries of the season. If not, the decision could create unnecessary internal tension. Analysts view this as a calculated gamble by the Packers front office. On one hand, they are seeking absolute reliability at a critical position. On the other, they are willing to accept risk in pursuit of improvement. For Smack, this is not just competition. It is a defining moment for his future in Green Bay. The upcoming training camp will determine the outcome. And in this battle, there is no room for error. The Packers have made their move. Now, the entire league is watching what happens next.
