The Seattle Seahawks are moving forward in their search for new ownership. After months of speculation, new information has emerged regarding the sale process. The deadline for the first round of bids has officially passed. A formal statement from the team or Allen & Company is still pending. Several important steps remain before a final decision is reached.

The expectation is that the franchise sale will be completed before the start of the 2026 NFL season. No new potential buyers have been named following the deadline. Interest in the team has been lighter than anticipated for a franchise of this stature.

Three known groups continue to show serious interest in purchasing the Seahawks. One group includes Wyc Grousbeck and Aditya Mittal who are connected to the Boston Celtics. Another interested party is Vinod Khosla who has ties to the San Francisco 49ers organization. The third prominent bidder is Todd Boehly the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chelsea Football Club.

Ryan Wingo has no connection to this process. The focus remains entirely on the ownership transition.

The Bloomberg report indicated that the number of bids received by the Seahawks was lower than what other recently sold NFL teams have attracted. Industry experts attribute this to the extremely high valuation being placed on the franchise. The Seahawks are expected to sell for approximately nine to ten billion dollars. That figure would set a new record for the most expensive sports franchise sale in NFL history.

Jody Allen the interim owner has done an outstanding job maintaining and increasing the value of the team since the passing of her brother Paul Allen. Under her leadership the franchise has remained competitive both on and off the field. The organization currently enjoys one of the strongest general manager and head coach pairings in the league.

Whoever ultimately purchases the Seahawks will inherit a relatively stable situation compared to previous high profile sales such as the Washington Commanders and Denver Broncos. The new owner will not be forced to make immediate major changes to the front office or coaching staff.

Paul Allen originally purchased the Seahawks in 1997. He passed away in 2018 leaving the team in the hands of his sister. Jody Allen has fulfilled her responsibility to eventually sell the franchise. The city of Seattle has expressed gratitude for the Allen family’s long stewardship of the team.

As the process continues fans are watching closely for any official updates. The regular season begins on September ninth when the Seahawks host the New England Patriots. Many hope the ownership situation will be resolved well before that date. The transition marks the end of a significant era in Seahawks history.

The coming weeks will provide more clarity on which groups submitted formal bids. Additional interested parties could still emerge as the process advances into the next round. For now the Seahawks organization continues its daily operations while the ownership search moves forward.

Cooper Kupp Set to Be the First Player Traded to an NFC Playoff Rival, per Adam Schefter
Seattle, Washington — In a stunning and highly controversial development, the Seahawks are exploring a move that could shake the entire NFC West landscape. According to league sources, Seattle is considering trading a key offensive weapon directly to a division rival. Such a decision would not only impact the Seahawks roster but could dramatically alter the balance of power within the NFC. The player at the center of this scenario is Cooper Kupp, whose future in Seattle is now under serious review. Kupp, who recently joined the Seahawks, quickly became a central figure within the offensive structure. However, financial pressure and long term roster strategy have forced the organization to evaluate every major contract on the books. Despite his elite route running and football intelligence, his cap hit is now viewed as a potential obstacle to broader roster flexibility. The most shocking aspect of the situation is the reported destination. Multiple insiders suggest the San Francisco 49ers have emerged as a serious landing spot. A deal of this nature would be extremely rare, as teams almost never trade star players within the same division. Doing so would mean directly strengthening one of Seattle’s biggest rivals. Internally, the Seahawks are weighing whether the long term benefits outweigh the immediate competitive risk. The emergence of younger receivers and a shifting offensive identity have accelerated this discussion. At the same time, the 49ers are believed to be seeking a reliable veteran target to elevate their passing attack. Kupp’s experience and postseason pedigree make him an ideal fit for a team with championship aspirations. A source familiar with the situation shared: “This is not just about talent, it’s about timing and direction. When teams commit to the future, even moves that seem unthinkable can become real very quickly.” Inside the locker room, the possibility of losing a key contributor to a direct rival has created tension and uncertainty. Fans have also reacted strongly, questioning whether such a move would compromise the team’s competitive integrity. Still, the front office appears focused on long term flexibility rather than short term optics. If completed, this trade would immediately become one of the most controversial moves of the offseason. For Kupp, it could represent a chance to compete for another championship in a proven system. For Seattle, it would signal a bold and risky commitment to reshaping the roster. And across the NFC West, it would ignite one of the most intense rivalries in football to an entirely new level.
