Aaron Judge thinks Yankees following in Knicks' footsteps could change world

Posted Jun 19, 2026

Videos of New York Knicks fans celebrating the team's NBA Finals victory over the San Antonio Spurs throughout New York City on June 13 went viral and inspired athletes who feature for other professional sports teams in the area.

Judge thinks Yankees following in Knicks' footsteps could change world

New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge is one of those athletes, and he has a special reason for wanting the Bronx Bombers to follow in the Knicks' footsteps later this year.

Could the Yankees bring peace to the world?

"There’s a lot of winning going on in New York, so we got to keep that going," Judge recently told Michael Sebastian of Esquire. "I like the team we have. I like the opportunity we’ve got in front of us. It’s going to be an exciting rest of the year. A Knicks championship in June and a Yankees World Series in October would bring world peace."

Of course, the closest Judge has thus far come to experiencing all that the Knicks are enjoying this spring occurred when he helped the Yankees reach the 2024 World Series. The Yankees lost that series to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games, and the Bombers later dropped three of four American League Division Series games to the Toronto Blue Jays last fall. Across his most recent seven playoff appearances, Judge went 13-for-26 (.500) with a 1.273 OPS and seven RBI.

"I didn’t grow up a Knicks fan, I didn’t grow up a Rangers fan, but once you come here and you get a chance to meet those players and you understand what they’re going through, playing in New York with the expectations in this city — I’m a Knicks, and Rangers, and Giants, everything fan," Judge said.

Aaron Judge reflects on being out of action

The first-place Yankees began Thursday with a record of 45-27. However, they won't have Judge in the lineup anytime soon, as he could be out of action through at least a portion of September due to a stress fracture of the first rib on his right side. Judge last played on May 31.

"It’s tough being on the injured list," Judge acknowledged, "but we’ve got a lot of good trainers, a lot of good staff helping me get back up there. But the boys are kicking butt right now, so we got to keep that rolling."

The perception exists among pockets of Yankees fans and local media members that Judge needs to collect at least one World Series ring to be considered a true franchise legend. He seemingly isn't concerned about such things as he works to recover from his latest setback.

"I try not to think about my legacy," Judge added for the piece. "Everybody’s going to have their opinion about what your legacy is. But for me, if fifty years down the road people can say I represented the Yankees the right way, left the organization better than I did, was a great teammate, a great role model for their kids and the fans, that’ll be the most important thing to me. That’s what it comes down to. Obviously, I want to win. I want to do a lot of great things in this city and put the Yankees back on top."

BREAKING: Aaron Judge Emotionally Reveals His Daughter Is His “Number 1 Fan” — Yankees Captain Shares Heartwarming Father’s Day Message
For years, baseball fans have known Aaron Judge as a giant. A towering slugger. A record-breaking home run machine. The face of the New York Yankees. A captain entrusted with carrying one of the most iconic franchises in sports. But as Father's Day approaches, the Yankees superstar is reminding the baseball world that his most important role isn't played under the bright lights of Yankee Stadium. It's played at home. And according to Judge himself, his most loyal supporter isn't sitting in the bleachers, watching from a luxury suite, or cheering from millions of television screens across America. It's his daughter. In a heartfelt and emotional reflection ahead of Father's Day, Judge opened up about the joy of fatherhood and revealed that the person he considers his "number one fan" is the little girl waiting for him beyond the game. The comments immediately resonated with Yankees fans and baseball followers around the world. Because behind the towering home runs and MVP awards is a father whose priorities have evolved in ways even he never expected. "Every time I step onto the field, she cheers louder than the crowd," Judge said with a smile. And for a player who has heard thunderous ovations from more than 50,000 fans at a time, that's saying something. Judge has accomplished virtually everything a baseball player can dream of. Multiple All-Star appearances. Historic home run records. MVP honors. Captaincy of the Yankees. The admiration of an entire generation of baseball fans. Yet those closest to him say fatherhood has changed him. Not as a player. As a person. The motivation that once came from chasing greatness now carries a deeper meaning. Every game. Every achievement. Every milestone. Now comes with someone special watching. Someone who sees him not as a superstar, but simply as Dad. And that perspective has become increasingly important to Judge as he continues navigating the pressures of life in New York. Being the captain of the Yankees means living under constant scrutiny. Every slump becomes a headline. Every strikeout becomes a talking point. Every victory becomes an expectation. It's a burden that few athletes truly understand. But when Judge returns home, those pressures disappear. The MVP. The captain. The superstar. All of it takes a backseat. He's simply a father. Throughout his career, Judge has maintained a reputation for professionalism and humility. Teammates consistently praise his leadership. Coaches admire his work ethic. Fans appreciate his willingness to represent the Yankees with class. But moments like this offer a glimpse into the side of Judge that rarely makes headlines. The family man. The proud father. The person behind the baseball card statistics. For all the attention surrounding his performances on the field, Judge has always preferred keeping family matters private. That is why his Father's Day comments struck such an emotional chord. The sincerity was unmistakable. There was no script. No carefully crafted public-relations message. Just a father expressing gratitude for one of life's greatest gifts. The timing of Judge's reflections couldn't be more fitting. Father's Day has long served as a reminder that even the biggest sports stars are defined by far more than what happens between the lines. Championships matter. Records matter. Awards matter. But family often becomes the true measure of success. Judge appears to understand that better than ever. In many ways, his journey mirrors that of countless fathers balancing professional demands with personal responsibilities. The difference is that Judge does it in front of millions. Every swing is analyzed. Every game is televised. Every moment becomes public conversation. Yet despite all of that attention, he continues emphasizing what matters most. Family. Love. And the people who support you when the cameras are gone. Not surprisingly, Judge's comments quickly spread throughout social media. Fans flooded comment sections with Father's Day messages. Many shared stories of their own children cheering for them. Others reflected on how meaningful it was to see one of baseball's biggest stars speaking so openly about fatherhood. The reaction highlighted something unique about Judge's connection with Yankees fans. They don't just admire him because he hits home runs. They admire him because of who he is. The professionalism. The humility. The authenticity. Moments like these only strengthen that bond. When Aaron Judge's career eventually comes to an end, baseball historians will spend years discussing his accomplishments. The towering home runs. The MVP seasons. The records. The unforgettable moments in Yankees history. Those achievements are secure. But perhaps the most meaningful legacy will have nothing to do with baseball. Perhaps it will be the example he sets off the field. The way he treats people. The way he leads. The way he values family despite the demands of superstardom. Those qualities often endure longer than statistics ever can. As Father's Day arrives, Aaron Judge remains focused on helping the Yankees pursue another championship. The expectations remain enormous. The spotlight remains intense. The pressure remains constant. But now, every trip to the plate carries an additional source of motivation. Somewhere beyond the dugout. Beyond the stands. Beyond the roaring crowd. His biggest fan is watching. And unlike the thousands who cheer for his home runs, she doesn't care about batting averages, MVP races, or record books. She only cares that her father is out there. Smiling. Competing. And coming home afterward. For Aaron Judge, that may be the greatest victory of all. Because while Yankee Stadium can provide unforgettable applause, nothing compares to hearing it from the person he proudly calls his number one fan.
